I've been disappointed with Palo Santo oils in the past, even, somewhat, with my own distillation a few years ago.

With all other Palo Santo oils I've previously experienced, I find that the licorice note in Palo Santo comes too strongly to the foreground where I find it overwhelming and cloying. There are also vaporous turpentine and camphor aspects that dominate, overwhelming the more subtle aspects we enjoy with the raw wood and incense. These qualities, in my opinion, overshadow the beautiful aromatic harmony and balance found in the wood itself.

But this oil... this oil is different. It is much closer in aroma to raw Palo Santo heartwood, rich with resin and a deep, woody aroma. t's much more smooth and round. It's exactly how I've always hoped Palo Santo oil might smell!

While I understand some people might appreciate the unique notes offered by a more typical Palo Santo distillation and it's seeming radical digression from the familiar and soothing scent of the raw wood itself, this oil is a dream come true for me.
