• production : October 2021. Selected agarwood from one wild Aquilaria crassna tree found in the deep forest of Koh Kong province, Cambodia.

• distillation notes: carefully low-temperature distilled in steel and glass. Sourced from a trusted artisanal distiller. Process verified. Lab-tested for purity and authenticity.

• scent highlights: unusual apple notes, sweet, clean, light, fruity, slightly floral and spicy, highly pheromonal.

• scent description: Extremely refined and gorgeous with uncommon apple and fresh green peppercorn notes. All around light, clean, classic, and classy Oud that’s easy to appreciate. Not challenging, no vices that linger. Opens with bright fresh apple and quickly opens up into classic lighter-side classic Oud notes including fresh blonde pipe tobacco, ripe peach and nectarine, summer wildflower honey, and light natural suede. As well you might notice some white lily and other florals, allspice, cassia, vanilla, fig, and apple simmering down into applesauce as the drydown progresses. This one is articularly pheromonal / aphrodisiac.

• notes of controversy: sharp “new leather” opening notes at outset which disappear within a few minutes. We predict this will mellow out over time.

• When we say wild, we mean wild! All our “wild” designated agarwood and oil is from genuine 100% naturally occurring wild forest agarwood trees with no human interventions prior to harvest. Occasionally we might offer other options, but they will be clearly indicated as either “cultivated” (farmed) or “semi-wild” (agarwood growth influenced by human intervention in a natural setting). When we say wild, we mean wild!

• One tree wonders! We strongly prefer single-tree agarwood harvests and single tree Oud oil distillations. This has both environmental benefits and aesthetic benefits in terms of capturing the unique essence of a single, fully mature, agarwood tree. When this single-tree preference is not possible we strongly favour combining wood from only a few fully mature trees, of known provenance, from trusted and experienced harvesters. More and more you will see us moving toward single-tree productions. It’s part of our commitment to sustainability and the joy we take in honouring the individual aromatic “soul” of each tree we harvest.
